Trump For President LOL

June 2015

Comparing Donald Trump to a circus clown is an Insult to circus clowns.

Make no mistake, he's not a funny, harmless vulgarian in the public square. He's putting on an act just like his reality TV show and he's planning to make his run for President in 2016 'the greatest show on earth'.

The White House is just one more piece of real estate for his gaudy empire.

Very few people have the luxury of being an openly obnoxious braggart and buffoon. Most people have to watch what they say for fear of offending their bosses and colleagues or saying anything that might make them unpopular. Whether Trump genuinely believes Barack Obama will go down in history as the worst U.S. president and thinks he'd do a better job as leader, or whether he's just trying to use his celebrity platform to get his message across, one thing is for sure: His theatrics are like candy for the most Obama-phobic conservatives. And for that, he's worth paying attention to. Some compare his candidacy to “Hulk Hogan.”

When given the choice of President Obama or Trump, Newt Gingrich said “I would have zero hesitation saying that Donald Trump is dramatically less dangerous to America’s future than Barack Obama, and I’d be happy to campaign for him.”

  • Trump's platform is defined by what he's against - immigration, Common Core, abortion, the Trans Pacific Partnership, cuts to Social Security and Medicare, and wind turbines.

  • He also endorsed seizing Iraqi oil fields for the US as "spoils" of war.

  • "Trump is the first candidate in modern presidential primary history to begin the campaign with a majority of his own party disliking him."

    [FiveThirtyEight / Harry Enten]
  • Trump announced that he has a net worth of $8.7 billion: "I’m not doing that to brag. I’m doing that to show that’s the kind of thinking our country needs."

    [The Guardian / Dominic Rushe]
  • That's more than double Forbes' estimate of $4.1 billion.

  • Trump, in an earlier interview: "I’m the most successful person ever to run for the presidency, by far. … Ross Perot isn’t successful like me. Romney — I have a Gucci store that’s worth more than Romney."

[Des Moines Register / Josh Hafner]
  • I'm utterly incapable of reading news coverage of Trump and not thinking of this John Mulaney bit: "I'm going to put up tall buildings with my name on 'em. I'll have fine, golden hair, and a TV show where I fire people with my children."
