Ditch your toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant & shampoo

Most of your personal hygiene products contain slow moving, dangerous, cancer-causing, chemicals that accumulate in your body over time and pose a grave risk to your health. The ingredients are the same toxic chemicals found in anti-freeze, engine de-greasers and brake fluid.

YOUR TOOTHPASTE

What's in that blob you squeeze onto your toothbrush everyday or that colored liquid you swish around in your mouth?

In case you haven't noticed, toothpaste labels say “Poison”!

The thin mucous membranes in your mouth allow these poisons to be easily absorbed into your body which leads to toxic overload.

Over-the-counter toothpastes contain sodium fluoride which is a cumulative poison. It has been categorized by the FDA as a "toxic drug". The 1984 issue of Clinical Toxicology of Commercial Products lists Fluoride as "more poisonous than "lead" and slightly less poisonous than "arsenic". Sodium Fluoride was once widely used as an insecticide.

Young children are more prone to swallowing toothpaste while brushing. The required package labeling warns: "keep out of the reach of children under 6" and seek medical help or call poison control right away if accidentally swallowed". That doesn't sound good!

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate are toxic synthetic chemical DETERGENTS used in toothpaste as foaming agents. They have been linked to mouth ulcers and canker sores. Triclosan is an anti-bacterial chemical linked to hormone disruption among other things.

And what about the use of artificial sweeteners in your toothpaste like saccharin, sorbitol and aspartame? They cover up the nasty taste of your toothpaste's harsh detergents. Artificial sweeteners are linked to a long list of chronic illnesses.

The preservatives in your toothpaste such as methylparaben and ethylparaben, kill more than just bacteria. Parabens are known carcinogens. They also are known to be irritating to the skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Parabens are highly toxic!

The artificial coloring in your toothpaste like FD & C Blue No. 1 is also absorbed into your body. PEG-12, tetrasosodium pyrophosphate and titanium dioxide are common in toothpaste. But does anyone know what this stuff really is?

Remember. NEVER put chemicals in your mouth that you don’t want absorbed into your blood.

YOUR MOUTHWASH

Corporations have made billions selling us the myth that we need chemical laced toothpaste and mouthwash to keep our teeth and mouth clean.

Zingy, minty mouthwash is a harmful cocktail of Thymol , Eucalyptol, Hexetidine Methyl Salicylate, Benzalkonium chloride, Cetylpyridinium Chloride and Methylparaben.

By repeatedly destroying both good and bad mouth bacteria with anti-bacterial chemicals, you increase your chances of developing resistant strains of bacteria and your mouthwash could become the CAUSE of your bad breath.

HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES

The best toothpaste alternative is no toothpaste at all. Brush your teeth with hot water, floss regularly and make your own mouthwash.

Salt Mouthwash: Dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water and swish.

Baking Soda: Mix 1 cup water, 1 teaspoon baking soda in a glass jar. For flavoring, add 3 drops of peppermint essential oil. Store on your bathroom counter.

Apple Cider Vinegar Mouthwash: Mix 1 cup water and 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar in a glass jar. Shake well. Store on your bathroom counter.

Hydrogen Peroxide Mouthwash: 1 part hydrogen peroxide mixed with 1 part water. Also use hydrogen peroxide to clean your toothbrush.

To whiten your teeth, mix lemon juice, baking soda and water.

YOUR DEODORANT

Most deodorants and antiperspirants contain aluminum and other unpronounceable chemicals and synthetic fragrances. They block your ability to sweat. Since sweat is one of your body’s natural ways to detoxify, blocking your ability to sweat can block your ability to detoxify.

Alzheimer’s disease is associated with chronic aluminum exposure. As stated by the FDA, antiperspirants have an aluminum-based compound as their main, “active” ingredient.

Apple cider vinegar is a natural deodorant! It absorbs and neutralizes stinky scents. Simply rub a bit of ACV in your underarms and it will absorb and minimize body odors. The vinegary smell goers away once it dries.

YOUR SHAMPOO

More and more research indicates that common ingredients in shampoos and body washes are dangerous to human health. The ingredients are the same toxic chemicals found in anti-freeze, engine de-greasers and brake fluid.

The David Suzuki Foundation offers a recipe to make your own shampoo and avoid toxic chemicals found in many hair products—from SLS and SLES to parabens and fragrance.

HERBAL TEA SHAMPOO - Shelf life: 1 month.

¾ cup water
1 tbsp peppermint
1 tbsp lavender
1 tbsp nettle
1 tbsp rosemary
Boil water and combine the dried herbs to make a tea. Once tea has steeped and cooled, stir in:
¼ cup liquid castile soap or vegetable glycerin
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp aloe gel
Store in squeeze bottle.

HAIR RINSE

Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water as a rinse to make your hair shine and balance your hair’s pH. It also helps with dandruff and soothes itchiness and irritation of the scalp. The vinegar smell will dissipate once your hair dries.
